Benoît Mernier : "Organ concerto", world premiere

The inauguration of BOZAR's monumental organ will be backed up with special guests and an outstanding bill of fare! The Belgian National Orchestra is performing for the first time this season in its new format and conducted by its new musical director, the American Hugh Wolff. This first-class group of musicians is joining two renowned French keyboard players, the pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard and the organist Olivier Latry, for a performance of Ravel's famous Concerto "for the left hand" and a work BOZAR has commissioned especially for the occasion: Concerto pour orgue by the Belgian Benoît Mernier. This world premiere will reveal the multi-tonal capabilities of the organ in the large Henry Le Bœuf Hall! The instrument's many-hued possibilities are matched by those of the orchestra, and heightened in the midst of Beethoven's unsurpassed "Eroica" Symphony.
