« Dédales » takes its source in the original music composed for the choreography « Les Familiers du Labyrinthe » by Michèle Noiret, premiered in February 2005 at the Paris Opera and First Prize at the Bourges International Competition of Electroacoustic Music in 2007.

This concert version is freely based on it, bringing structural changes as well as new sound elements. « Dédales » suggests the idea of a strange undefined presence: shifting resonant spaces, whispers, plays of sonic lights and shades open hidden doors. At times very strong rhythmical structures materialize the harsh environment of the labyrinth and its unforeseeable mechanic nature, where bodies get lost in its hostile wheelworks, either stressing its permanence or its kinetic vivacity. And this machine is not just an external one. It inhabits the bodies and minds while simultaneously reflecting them. As only those who are lost inside imagine and perceive its existence. The labyrinth is but an inverse echo of the apparent fragility of men and women wandering inside it.The multiple layers of sound materials undergo different time distortions, fragmentations and metamorphosis, disturbing the perception of time and spaces.

"Dédales" was composed at ARTeM studio (Art, Recherche, Technologie et Musique, Brussels) and was premiered on the 29th of November 2008 at the LOOP Festival in Brussels. With the support of the Communauté Française de Belgique (Direction Générale de la Culture, Service de la Musique).
