Préludes à l'abîme

Acousmatic music
2017

Acousmatic piece  inspired by Dante Alighieri's 'Inferno.' It draws a musical parallel to the bewilderment and confusion found in both this medieval masterpiece and the state of our era. The sound of the vibraphone is diverted from its purity and distorted by technology, losing its soul and leading us into the wanderings of the abyss... Dante's text is used as musical material since it has undergone sonification through a translation into Morse code and rhythmic adaptation.

'Prelude to the Abyss' was composed with the assistance of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation (General Directorate of Culture, Music Service).
