Feed the Monster is an immersive experience using the movement of sound. The sound of the musicians – spatialized winds and strings – are projected into the resonating body of the amplified piano. Through its natural reverberation, the piano reworks and transforms the resonances created by projecting the musicians’ sounds into the piano, becoming a natural sound processor through its vibration, which is amplified and controlled by the pianist. The process of using the piano as a giant resonating body capable of reprocessing sound builds upon Martin Loridan’s research on reverberation (Extended Pedal, his project supported by the FNRS) and the compositional use of feedback phenomena (Reverberated Feedbacks, the result of a recent collaboration with Gian Ponte).

This project gives rise to a staging that exploits the capabilities of the concert hall in which it is performed (spaces, instrument placement and spatialisation, amplification, movement of the musicians and sound projection).
